The hotel was founded in 1783 by Rudolf Elcer, who also lent his name to the original hotel. The next owner was Mr. Stuchlík.
In 1951 the hotel was bought by the Novák family who renamed the hotel to Novák Hotel. In 1958 the hotel was nationalised and the state-owned facility was then managed by the Restaurants and Dining Halls of Valašské Meziříčí national enterprise.
Restitutions in 1991 returned the hotel to the Novák family.
In 1997 the Novák Hotel was acquired by the AGH spol. s. r. o. (limited liability company) and reopened for the public after seven years on 30 April 2004 under its current name HOTEL AGH****.
